Carringtons create some fantastic flavours with their chillichups, sauces and rubs. A great addition to any meal which is why we have chosen to include them in our Spicy Gift Box. Heres their story.
Based in Faversham, Kent, Carrington's started in the heart of the home; the kitchen. As a young boy, Dominic enjoyed helping his grandmother in the kitchen; it was here where he discovered his love of food and cooking.
After a career as a chef, Dominic decided in 2007 to set up his own food stall serving great tasting vegetarian and vegan food at festivals, markets and private events. Finding it difficult to find the right sauces to accompany the food he was serving, Dominic decided to create his own using honest ingredients, vibrant flavours and a spicy kick. The result was Chillichup a deliciously versatile mild chilli sauce infused with a rich mix of spices and chillis.
The sauce was an instant hit with his customers, and they soon started asking to take some home with them. I wasn't long before Dominic went on to create two more sauces, Hot Hot Chillichup and Shut up Chup.
In 2014 Carrington Foods was established solely for the production of high-quality sauces and preserves. Carrington Foods believes in selling its sauces through independent retailers, local markets and festivals to help support local businesses and the local food scene.
Our sauces are made using only the finest ingredients. We don't use any chemical preservatives or emulsifiers, and as we make all of our sauces in small batches, each bottle is of the highest quality and freshness for you to enjoy.
When we realised these were made in Kent, and made truffles as well as chocolate covered coffee beans – mocha lovers favourite, this was a no-brainer. Also, they have recently won some great taste awards for some of their products.
What they say - Life is too short not to have the best. At Cocoba we believe in creating great quality chocolate products and drinks to enjoy. We search the globe for the highest quality cocoa beans and best tasting chocolate (it’s a tough job, but someone has to do it).
The concept for the chocolate brand started with a memory. Cocoba’s founder, Darren, is from Australia where he grew up sharing delicious hot chocolates with his grandfather that he carefully made, not from powder, but using real, premium chocolate.
When Darren came to the UK, he could not find a chocolate drink that matched the one from his childhood, and so he decided to create it. Today the same love and care his grandfather put into his hot chocolate can be found in every one of Cocoba’s chocolate products.
Cocoba launched with a test pop up kiosk in Brent Cross Shopping Centre in October 2012, and a little over a year later, opened the first café in Bluewater Shopping Centre, Kent.
All our hot chocolates are made from real Belgian chocolate which is slowly melted to make the basis of the Cocoba Hot Chocolate. If you can’t make it to Kent, you can also recreate the experience at home, using our Signature Hot Chocolate flakes, or Hot Chocolate Spoons.
In addition, we offer our own Cocoba coffee blend, loose leaf teas, and iced drinks, which you can enjoy in-store while feasting on our selection on freshly made baguettes, sandwiches, soups, paninis and salads, or indulging in our delicious pastries, cakes, slices, or one of our 100 chocolate products including chocolate bars (all made in-store), truffles, pralines and more.
If that is not enough, we also have a selection of Cocoba signature desserts, including our chocolate pizza, a brand new Chocolate Waffle menu, and warm chocolate cookie dough with ice-cream, plus an ice-cream and frozen yoghurt station with over 16 toppings to choose from!
If that all sounds too good, and you want to enjoy Cocoba chocolate now, we offer a range of chocolate bars, truffles, pralines, chocolate coated coffee beans, salted toffee truffles, and much, much more, which can all be purchased here, directly from our website. From 90% dark chocolate bars to chocolate covered ginger, we have chocolate for you (and for your friends and loved ones)
Paper Straw People
What we say – well we love these cheerful and colourful straws all made of paper, even the box they come in. When we found out, they were located just up the road in Whitstable we just had to include them in our box. What they say - We understand that the prospect of ridding your home of plastic can be incredibly overwhelming but, at Paper Straw People, we believe in small changes making a big difference and that the best, and easiest, place to start is to eliminate single-use plastic from your life. We offer an affordable (and better looking!) alternative to the plastic straw meaning that you can not only ensure your drinks look amazing but that you are also doing your bit for the environment! Our straws are packaged in a lovely 'plastic free' card box that is also 100% biodegradable. And so, we begin our journey to eradicate single-use plastic with the humble paper straw...
